Hocus Pocus Farm

What does a vegetable share look like?

Vegetable Shares

CSA shares include a wide range of veggies and herbs, from traditional crowd pleasers to rare culinary treats.  Items will vary throughout the season, but each week will provide 7-10 seasonal items. Here are examples of what Hocus Pocus Farm full shares might include throughout the season.

The earliest weeks of the CSA are a celebration of the greenery that New England’s long, wet, spring brings to the earth.  You’ll receive all manner of greens, from salad mix to spicy mustard mix to cooking greens to head lettuce, arugula, bok choy, and spinach.  We also harvest our earliest root crops like radishes and sweet hakurei turnips, as well as green garlic, snap peas, garlic scapes, and herbs.

   High Summer

Expect a great bounty of fruiting crops!  We grow many varieties of heirloom tomatoes as well as crowd favorites like juicy red beefsteak tomatoes and sungold cherry tomatoes.  Shares include eggplants, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, watermelon, sweet peppers, hot peppers, tomatillos, and husk cherries, as well as garlic, beets, carrots, radishes, turnips, fennel, string beans, cooking greens, broccoli, cabbage, basil, herbs, and salad.

Waiting for long-season crops pays off in the cooler days of fall.  Expect tomatoes and other fruits until the frost comes.  You’ll also receive storage onions, leeks, acorn and butternut squash, pie pumpkins, Concord grapes, celery, Swiss chard, kale, collards, Brussel sprouts, herbs, and many root veggies and tender greens that appreciate a break from the hot sun.
