Meet the farmers
Courtney spent many seasons working in the orchards, making pies, and pressing cider at Phantom Farm in Cumberland RI, and spent two growing seasons as a part of the Casey Farm Family in Saunderstown, RI. She grew up in Cumberland, and started Hocus Pocus while a full-time undergraduate at the University of Rhode Island with majors in political science and environmental science. When not at the farm, Courtney can be found hiking in New Hampshire and signing up for local road races. She brings the hustle to Hocus Pocus.
Sophie's first farming experience was as a WWOOF volunteer during college. She managed the Urban Environmental Lab community garden at Brown, worked on Castaway Farm in Portsmouth RI, and was a crew member at Casey Farm in Saunderstown RI. She moonlights as the CRAFT workshop coordinator for the Rhode Island Northeast Organic Farming Association, and she is a part-time nursing student at the Community College of Rhode Island. She will someday be a midwife-farmer.
